Violences à Hamdallaye-Concasseur : un homme de 25 ans abattu devant sa boulangerie

As expected, the unplanned traffic disruptions yesterday on the Prince Highway caused by unruly youths did not go unpunished. A young man was shot and killed during clashes between the troublemakers and security forces.
Alsény Baldé, 25 years old and a baker by trade, is a collateral victim, or so it seems. “He was hit by a bullet while eating in front of his bakery, located within the Concasseur market (Hamdallaye).
“It was around midnight when gendarmes arrived in a pickup truck and opened fire,” reports a human rights activist.
Abdoul Salam Sow, vice-mayor of Ratoma, corroborates this version, specifying that he obtained it from the consistent testimonies of the victim’s parents and neighbors.
It should be noted that the Hamdallaye-Bambéto axis was the scene of clashes between uncontrolled youths and FDS agents, resulting in gratuitous violence following the alleged protest against a measure to control vehicle registration plates.
This measure, incidentally, had already been postponed. These events resulted in projectiles being thrown against tear gas, accompanied at times by sporadic live ammunition fire, particularly in the evening.
